🌿 Paint Botanicals in a Loose Style — With Real Structure Behind the “Effortless” Look

Loose floral paintings can look spontaneous, airy, “easy done”…
But the truth is: they are built on choices.

In this class, I’ll teach you the algorithm behind those choices — the practical, repeatable way to
create botanical paintings that feel fresh and free, yet are guided by strong structure, contrast,
and composition.

This is not only “paint with me.”
This is think with me 🧠 🎨

We’ll go behind the scenes of the painting process — so you can later create your own floral
compositions (not just repeat mine).

💡What makes this class special

Most floral lessons start with a reference and jump straight into painting.
Here we do something deeper:

✅ how to choose and combine references
✅ how to decide what matters most (mood, shapes, light, color, geography, energy)
✅ how to build a dynamic composition that looks effortless
✅ how to choose values and palette intentionally (so the painting “breathes”)
✅ how to use contrast to guide attention and create focal points — without overworking

✨ You’ll leave with a clear system you can reuse again and again for botanical subjects.

🎨 What you will learn

1⃣ Preparation: the algorithm of making choices

🔎 What inspires you

  • shapes
  • colors
  • emotional charge
  • atmosphere
  • specific plants
  • a place or geography
  • a season

Working with references

  • how to choose several references
  • how to create a smart reference compilation

⚡ Contrasts and conflicts as your main guide

  • types of contrasts
  • how to choose the main contrast for your composition

🎚 Value contrast for loose botanicals
Possible value scenarios:

  • white background
  • light / midtone background (partly)
  • mixed mid + dark + light background
  • dark background

🎨 Color harmony vs contrast

• how to choose a palette based on your artistic intention

🌀 Composition (our key focus)
Dynamic botanical compositions that help you achieve that airy, “easy done” impression.

✨ During this part, we’ll create several composition sketches together — so your final painting is
not a guess

Studies: a small series (about 4 pieces)

🖌 We’ll paint around 4 small botanical studies in different formats.
You will practice the decision-making system in action.
I will demonstrate watercolor techniques I use for loose florals:
• edges
• layering
• rhythm
• texture
• simplicity
• and most importantly — where to stop 🌬

Final painting: one larger piece

🎨 A larger-scale painting built from everything we prepared.
We will focus on:
• managing focal points using the right contrasts
• keeping the work expressive and fresh
• maintaining structure without stiffness

Who this class is for

This class is perfect if you:
🌿 love florals/botanicals but feel your paintings become too careful or overworked
🌿 want your work to feel lighter, freer, and more alive — while still looking intentional
🌿 collect beautiful references… but don’t know how to turn them into a strong composition
🌿 want to learn how to create your own floral compositions (not only follow a tutorial)
🌿 are a beginner in watercolor or an intermediate painter who wants a clear system + more
confidence

Live class experience (and why it matters)

Live on Zoom means you can:

  • ask questions in real time
  • see the full decision process
  • feel the energy of painting together in a studio atmosphere

💬 There will be Q&A time, and you’re welcome to share progress and ask for feedback if you
want.
📹 If you can’t attend live — you’ll still have the recording for lifetime access.

ENJOY PAINTING FLORALS WITH AN ARTIST!

I'M IN!

✨ The promise

After this class, you won’t just have one finished floral painting.

You’ll have a repeatable algorithm for creating loose botanical artworks:

🌿 inspiration
→ 📷 references
→ 🌀 composition
→ 🎚 values
→ 🎨 palette
→ 🖌 studies
→ ✨ final painting

So next time you see a flower that touches your heart…
you’ll know exactly what to do with it. 🌿 💛

What You Will Create During the Class

During this class we will move step by step from ideapreparationstudiesfinal painting.
You will not only watch the process — you will build a complete botanical composition from
scratch.

Composition Sketches
Several quick sketches where we explore composition, contrasts, and structure before painting.
These sketches help us test ideas and make confident artistic decisions.

🌿 Botanical Studies Series

We will create around four small paintings exploring different compositions, formats, and
watercolor techniques.

Each study will help you practice:

  • working with loose botanical forms
  • balancing contrasts
  • keeping the painting fresh and spontaneous
  • learning where to simplify and where to emphasize

🎨 Final Large Botanical Painting

Finally, we will create one larger expressive painting based on the preparation and studies.

This painting will bring together:
✨ dynamic composition
✨ intentional color palette
✨ value contrast for depth
✨ expressive watercolor techniques
✨ clear focal points
