Stream “Italian Village Watercolor and Mixed Media Sketch”

was live on June 14, 2026

⏱ Total duration: 1.30 hour

Sketch an old Italian street the way it feels — sun-warmed, rustic, alive with detail — without getting lost in it.

In this step-by-step streamed lesson, we paint one loose architecture sketch from start to finish: a weathered Italian village wall anchored by a beautiful old street lantern, surrounded by windows, signs, wires, and rustic texture. We start with composition decisions and a limited palette, lay down a free abstract watercolor wash, draw directly into it with watercolor pencils, then build volume and contrast with values — and finish with fountain-pen line work for graphic energy and texture.

You'll learn how to place a focal point using the rule of thirds, balance warm and cool throughout, build depth with values, use several kinds of contrast — value, color, texture, and material — to make your focal point sing, decide what to keep and what to let go, and lead the viewer's eye with line and rhythm instead of copying every detail.
