Stream “Mixed Media Semi Abstract Florals Still Life”

was pre-recorded on August 08, 2026

⏱ Total duration: ~ 45 min

There's a moment right before spring fully arrives — the light shifts, the air smells different, and you feel it before you can even name it. This lesson is about catching exactly that feeling on paper, using the first blue muscari blooms of the season as our starting point.

We'll build a semi-abstract still life together, moving freely between graphite, watercolor, watercolor pencils and crayons, and touches of opaque color. You'll learn how to divide a composition into asymmetrical, living sections, simplify a subject down to its essential shapes, and build a strong focal point through layered contrast — value, texture, and transparent-versus-opaque color. Along the way we'll bring in dry brush marks and connecting linework to tie every part of the painting into one integrated whole. It's a process built on feeling and decision-making as much as technique — and by the end, you'll have a repeatable approach you can use for your own semi-abstract compositions, inspired by any moment that moves you.
