πΏ About This Stream
Step into a sunlit forest and learn how to paint light, atmosphere, and depth in loose watercolor β without losing yourself in details.
In this ~2-hour live stream recording, I guide you through a full 12Γ16" (31Γ41 cm) forest landscape on cotton paper, painted directly without any pencil drawing. The focus is on sunlight breaking through trees, warm-cool temperature play, and that flowing, alive look that makes watercolor feel like watercolor.
You'll see my full thinking process β from composition decisions to color choices to knowing when to stop.
What You Will Learn
- Composition without a sketch β how to place your focal point using rule of thirds / golden ratio, and why painting without pre-drawing keeps you free
- Sunlight & glow β how to create the impression of warm light through warm/cool temperature contrast, not white paper
- Wet-on-wet flow + controlled marks β first wash on wet paper, then building structure step by step while the paper is still working with you
- Tree trunks with character β placing main trunks first, then secondary trees as a fading pattern into the distance
- Foliage that feels like foliage β using an Asian-style brush to "dance" on the paper for natural, abstract shapes instead of painted leaves
- Balance of edges β why I don't wait for layers to dry: how soft and hard edges naturally create depth
- Lifting & breaking shapes β using clean water, synthetic brush, and sea sponge to add light back, break similar shapes, and guide the viewer's eye
- Knowing when to stop β one of the hardest skills in loose watercolor: recognizing when "enough" is actually enough
